Discussion

Subspecies vexillocalyculatus grows in the same general area as Sairocarpus subcordatus. Sairocarpus subcordatus can be distinguished from subsp. vexillocalyculatus by its broader leaves, white to tan corollas, and reflexed abaxial corolla lobes.
