Leaves: basal usually persisting. Flowers: calyx lobes 4.8–8 × 1.3–2.2 mm; corolla 18–22 mm, sparsely to moderately glandular-pubescent externally, limb blue to bluish purple; pollen-sacs 1.5–1.7 mm; style 12–14 mm.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jul.
Habitat: Pinyon-juniper woodlands, sagebrush grasslands.
Elevation: 1600–2700 m.

Discussion

Variety cyanomontanus is known from the Uinta Basin in Moffat County, Colorado, and Uintah County, Utah. Populations are concentrated from the Yampa Plateau (Blue Mountain area) eastward into Dinosaur National Monument along the Yampa River.
