Stems (2–) 5–40 cm. Flowers: calyx lobes ovate, obovate, ovate-oblong, or lanceolate, margins erose or lacerate; corolla bluish purple, 12–16 mm; pollen-sacs 0.7–0.8 mm, dehiscing completely, connective splitting, sutures smooth, sometimes ± papillate. 2n = 48.


Phenology: Flowering Jul–Aug.
Habitat: Moist hillsides, rocky slopes, subalpine and alpine meadows.
Elevation: 1600–3200 m.

Discussion

Variety pseudoprocerus is concentrated in the Central Rocky Mountains in eastern Idaho, southwestern Montana, and northwestern Wyoming.
