Leaf-blades 20–30 mm, margins usually entire, proximal rarely toothed or lobed (in Arizona). Involucres 5–7 mm. Phyllary apices usually rounded, not spinulose, sometimes with weakly developed aristae. Florets 18–24.2n = 24.
Phenology: Flowering (Jun–)Sep–Nov.
Habitat: Salt shrub, often with Larrea
Elevation: 600–1100 m
