Leaves ± sessile; blades 20–50 (–80+) × 4–12 (–35) mm, sometimes obscurely to clearly 3-lobed. Peduncles 5–30+ cm. Ray-florets 0 or 5–8 (–13+); laminae 6–15 mm. Disc-florets 15–80+; corollas 4.5–7.5 mm. Cypselae 4–5 mm; pappi of lacerate crowns 0.5–1 mm plus 0–3 bristles or awns 4.5–6 mm. 2n = ca. 52.


Phenology: Flowering mostly late spring–early fall.
Habitat: Damp places in otherwise dry sites, igneous or limestone derived soils, thorn woodlands, desert scrublands
Elevation: 0–1500+ m

Discussion

The name Wedelia texana has been widely applied to this taxon; W. texana has not been validly published [cf., Lipochaeta texana Torrey & A. Gray and Zexmenia texana (Torrey & A. Gray) A. Gray].
