Annuals, 3–20 (–40+) cm. Leaf lobes linear, 5–25 × 0.5–1 (–2) mm. Peduncles 2–20 (–35+) cm. Calyculi of (1–) 5–8 linear bractlets (1–) 3–8+ mm. Phyllaries (3–) 8+, ± ovate to obovate, 6–10 (–12+) mm. Ray-florets (3–) 8+; laminae (5–) 12–20+ mm. Disc-florets (5–) 50–100+; corollas 2–4.5 mm. Paleae basally adnate to and falling with disc cypselae. Ray cypselae ± oblong, 5–6 mm. Disc cypselae oblanceolate to ± oblong, 5–6 (–7) mm; pappi 2–3 mm. 2n = 24.


Phenology: Flowering Feb–Jun.
Habitat: Openings in chaparral, desert scrub, yellow-pine forests
Elevation: 100–1800 m
