Fruiting pedicels (0.4–) 0.5–0.7 mm wide, often more than 3 times as wide as thick. Nectar glands subulate, 0.3–0.5mm. Fruit valves hispid, trichomes pustular-based. 2n = 32.


Phenology: Flowering Feb–May.
Habitat: Roadsides, rocky draws, dry washes, loose sand, stony or gravelly areas, clay flats
Elevation: 200-1100 m

Discussion

I. A. Al-Shehbaz (1986b) reported subsp. wrightii from Louisiana, but we have seen no additional material from that state, where it was likely introduced.
