Synonyms: Lesquerella ovata Greene
Caudex branched (well-developed). Stems several from base, stiffly erect, (unbranched, slender), 1–2 dm. Basal leaves: blade (outer) suborbicular or ovate to elliptic, base narrowing abruptly to petiole, margins entire. Racemes usually not elongated (subumbellate). Petals usually yellow, rarely white, 6.5–12 (–14) mm, usually 1.5 times or less as long as sepals. 2n = 12, 24, 36, 48, 50, 72.
Phenology: Flowering Mar–May.
Habitat: Bare limestone flats, rocky knolls and slopes, limestone chip, gypseous outcrops, rock crevices, exposed caprock
Elevation: 500-1700 m
