Plants ± erect, 3–15 (–18+) cm. Leaf lobes narrowly lanceolate to linear, 8–20+ × 1–2 (–5) mm, faces sparsely scabrellous and glanddotted. Involucres ± turbinate or obconic to hemispheric, 5–6+ × 4–6+ mm. Ray-florets 3–8; corollas pale-yellow (sometimes ochroleucous), laminae 2–5 mm. Disc-florets 20–35+; corollas 3–3.5 mm. Cypselae 3–4 mm, seldom glanddotted, usually hirsutulous (at least at bases); pappus-scales usually lanceolate to linear-subulate, 0.8–1.2 (–2) mm. 2n = 24.

Habitat: Roadsides, etc., on sandy, silty, or loamy soils of grasslands, plains, or prairies
Elevation: 1000–1700 m
