Stems glabrous or weakly pubescent at nodes. Basal leaf-blades glabrous. Pedicels glabrous or weakly pubescent distally. Flowers: calyx base glabrous or weakly pubescent. 2n = 56.


Phenology: Flowering mid-late summer.
Habitat: Chiefly shoreline, rock crevices, wet gravels and sands, tufts of moss along rocky coasts and shores of large lakes
Elevation: 0-300 m

Discussion

In populations along the shores of Lake Superior, plants sometimes occur with glandular hairs sparsely distributed on the stems, chiefly or solely at the bases of the nodes, as well as on the pedicels and calyces.
