Inflorescences palmate, slightly stipitate, with short sterile bracteate base, spikes rarely less than 10 cm. Floral bracts 3 cm–4.8 cm.
Phenology: Flowering spring–summer.
Habitat: Epiphytic on a variety of hosts, hammocks
Elevation: 0–30 m

Fla., Mexico, West Indies, Central America, South America
Discussion
This variety is very difficult to find in Florida and possibly has been eradicated.
