Leaves: sheath with V-shaped cleft opposite petiole; hastula adaxially glabrous; blades green, with minute, whitish dots on abaxial surface; segment apices lax. Fruits: pedicel conspicuous in fruit (usually exceeding 1 mm). 2n = 36.


Phenology: Flowering summer.
Habitat: Pinelands and littoral hammocks and scrub on limestone soils
Elevation: 0–10 m
