Culms dilated directly proximal to flower, 0.2–0.5 mm diam. Inflorescences: bracts not subtending inflorescence. Capsules usually not exceeding tepals.
Phenology: Flowering and fruiting spring–mid summer.
Habitat: Various damp open habitats including vernal depressions, streambeds, swales in sagebrush flats, forest clearing and alpine meadows
Elevation: 1400–3400 m
