Flowers: calyx lobes lanceolate, sometimes ovate, (5.5–) 6.5–10 × (1–) 2–2.5 mm, usually longer than capsules, apex acute to acuminate, sometimes obtuse. 2n = 16.


Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Grassy slopes in fir-spruce, redwood, and mixed-evergreen forests.
Elevation: 10–1200 m.

Distribution

Calif., Oreg.

Discussion

Variety rattanii is known from the Coast Range of northwestern California (Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino counties) and southwestern Oregon (Benton, Coos, Curry, and Douglas counties).
