Leaf-blades (1–) 1.9–3 (–4.1) × (0.4–) 0.5–1.1 (–1.8) cm, abaxial surface loosely strigose, hairs 0.2–0.5 (–0.7) mm, without underlying layer of white finely coiled-crisped hairs.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun; fruiting May–Oct.
Habitat: Limestone cliffs, ravines, slopes in oak-juniper woodlands.
Elevation: 300–600 m.

Discussion

Variety ernestii occurs in Bandera, Blanco, Hays, Kendall, and Travis counties in central Texas and in northern Coahuila, Mexico.
