Plants 1–3 m. Stems roughly stellate-hairy, hairs somewhat ferruginous. Leaves: stipules 6–7 mm; petiole: proximal 1/3 length of blade, distal subsessile; blade slightly discolorous, 3–13 × 1–7 cm (reduced distally), apex acute. Panicles 100+-flowered. Pedicels capillary, 1–3.5 cm, often subtended by 3 stipuliform bracts. Flowers: calyx 2–3 mm, stellate-hairy; petals 3 mm, glabrous; staminal column purple, subequal to corolla, hairy; style exserted, pallid. Schizocarps 4–5 mm diam., puberulent; mericarps 2.5 mm. 2n = 32.
