Shrubs, 0.6–6 m. Buds alba or caprea-type, or intermediate. Leaves: stipules on late ones absent, rudimentary, or foliaceous; largest medial blade (sometimes amphistomatous), 3–12 times as long as wide, adaxial surface not glaucous. Staminate flowers: filaments glabrous or hairy. Pistillate flowers: adaxial nectary shorter than stipe; stipe 0.4–4 mm; ovary sparsely to moderately densely short-silky; stigmas with flat, non-papillate abaxial surface, or stigmas cylindrical, 0.2–0.8 mm.

North America, e Mexico
Discussion
Species 4 (3 in the flora).
Salix cana M. Martens & Galeotti is known from eastern Mexico.
