Plants 0.08–0.3 m, clonal by root shoots. Largest medial blades amphistomatous, abaxial surface glaucescent. Catkins from lateral buds. Staminate flowers: filaments glabrous or hairy. Pistillate flowers: abaxial nectary absent; ovary not glaucous, glabrous.
