Herbs, 15–40 cm. Leaves shallowly 3–5 (–7) -lobed, 3–7 cm wide, surfaces hirsute. Inflorescences 3–8-flowered. Flowers 15–18 mm diam.; hypanthium broadly obconic, 2–3 mm, glabrous; petals creamy yellow, broadly elliptic to suborbiculate, 5–8 mm, much longer than sepals, apex obtuse; carpels 4–7.
Phenology: Flowering Jun.
Habitat: Mesic forest floors, under open canopy of grand fir or western red-cedar
Elevation: 500–1500 m
Discussion
Of conservation concern.
Waldsteinia idahoensis is easily distinguished and highly disjunct from other species of the genus. The species usually proliferates after clear-cuts. Most of the records are from the Clearwater Region of north-central Idaho.
