Shrubs, 10–30 dm, moderately to densely armed. Leaves abaxially white-tomentose. Inflorescences (2–) 3–10 (–12) -flowered. Flowers: petals oblong to oblanceolate, 3–6 (–8) mm. Fruits: drupelets (20–) 30–60, pubescent. 2n = 14.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Aug.
Habitat: Moist to dry, open, often rocky areas, shaded roadsides, sheltered openings, thickets, open forests
Elevation: 0–2700 m
