Plants 100–150 cm. Leaves: blades glabrous. Phyllaries: abaxial faces glabrous. Ray-florets 20–36+. Disc-florets 130–225.2n = 14.
Phenology: Flowering mid summer–early fall.
Habitat: Prairies, along roads and railroads
Elevation: 100–600 m
