Leaf-blades ovate or elliptic, margins denticulate or, rarely, entire. Proximal inflorescence bracts longer than subtended pedicels. Flowers: calyx lobes (2.8–) 3–5.5 (–5.8) mm, apices acuminate; anthers (2.2–) 2.7–3.5 (–3.9) mm.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Moist, coniferous forests, swampy woods, riparian thickets, dry and open hillsides
Elevation: 100-2000 m
