Eriogonum ochrocephalum var. ochrocephalum
Leaf-blades oblanceolate to elliptic or ovate to obovate, 1–2 × (0.3–) 0.5–1 (–1.5) cm. Scapes 0.5–1.5 (–2) dm, glandular at least proximal to inflorescence. Involucres turbinate-campanulate to campanulate, 3–5 (–6) × 3–4.5 (–5) mm, sparsely to densely floccose, occasionally sparsely glandular. Flowers 2–2.5 (–3) mm; perianth glabrous or rarely weakly glandular. Achenes 1.5–2.5 mm.

Habitat: Volcanic or gumbo clay flats and slopes, saltbush and sagebrush communities, juniper woodlands
Elevation: 1300-1700(-2500) m
Discussion
Variety ochrocephalum occurs in Lassen and Modoc counties, California, and in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Pershing, Storey, and Washoe counties, Nevada.
