Varieties 2 (1 in the flora).
Authorship of Fragaria indica is sometimes ascribed to Jackson in Andrews, because it is likely that Jackson prepared the text that accompanied illustrations by Andrews (F. A. Stafleu and R. S. Cowan 1976–1988, vol. 1). Because this is not indicated in the work itself, authorship is here retained as Andrews.
Variety microphylla T. T. Yu & T. C. Ku of Tibet has smaller, densely villous leaves.
